Sequoia Yacht Club was founded in 1939, and has been active in boating for 80 years. SYC is a member of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (with reciprocal privileges at other member clubs), and is affiliated with US Sailing, the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay, as well as with other racing and cruising organizations. We have an active cruising fleet, both small and large boat racing, an award-winning junior sailing program, and a variety of social events. Our comfortable facility, with guest berthing, is located at the Port of Redwood City and is accessible to members 24 hours a day.

Sequoia Yacht Club owes its success and culture to its heritage and those that guided us along the way. We are proud of those Flag Officers and Board Members that expended so much effort to make this a great club and exceptionally proud of those that served at its head, our Commodores.

More About The Port Of Redwood City
Redwood City and Redwood Creek were named after the redwood trees that were cut down in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the 19th century. They were floated down Redwood Creek, and shipped out to San Francisco at the creek's deep water channel on the Bay. Today, the Port of Redwood City is the only deep water port in the South Bay and is an important bulk shipping center. Materials such as concrete, gypsum, aggregate, and liquid chemicals are loaded onto large cargo ships docked at the port. In more recent years, high-tech industrial parks have been built near the port. Despite all this industrial activity, the port has attractive parks and trails.
