Sequoia Yacht Club was founded in 1939, and has been active in boating for 80 years. SYC is a member of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association (with reciprocal privileges at the other member clubs), and is affiliated with US Sailing, the Yacht Racing Association of San Francisco Bay, SBYRA, as well as with other racing and cruising organizations.
We have an active cruising and racing fleet, an award-winning junior sailing program, and a variety of social events. Our comfortable facility, with guest berthing, is located at the Port of Redwood City and is accessible to members 24 hours a day.
We invite you to visit our Club during the weekends, when we have an Officer of the Day to host you. Or join us for a drop-in dinner on most Friday nights starting at 6:30 pm with cocktails. See our events page to see the Club's monthly social schedule.
Our current membership include sailers, powerboaters, and those without boats. We offer three different types of memberships:
- Senior Member
Includes voting rights and all privileges. - Corinthian Member
Available to those 21 to 30 years of age, paying 50% of the initiation fees and dues. This includes all privileges except voting or holding office. Once the Corinthian Member turns 30 years old, an application for Senior membership may be made upon payment of the current initiation fee, less the initiation fees previously paid, and less a 10% credit for each year of Corinthian Membership. - Youth Member
Available to those 12 to 21 years of age for $25.00 a year. This includes limited club privileges (including weekend dinghy sailing) but no voting.
Our initiation fee is $500.00. Annual dues are $600.00, and are prorated for the first calendar year. Potential members are asked to meet the membership during two General Meetings, held on the second Friday of each month at 7:30 pm.
